On 06-18-21 at about 1249 hours, Deschutes County Dispatch received a call of an injured mountain bike rider at Phil’s Trailhead. The caller indicated that they were going to need assistance to get the injured rider back to the Phil’s Trailhead parking lot. Nine Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office search and rescue volunteers, along with one deputy responded to the scene.
The injured rider was located about .7 miles down Kent’s Trail from the Phil’s Trailhead parking lot. Search and rescue medical team staff assessed the rider’s medical condition. The rider was then loaded into a wheeled litter. Search and rescue volunteers carried the rider in the litter, to the parking lot, where Bend Fire and Rescue was on scene with an ambulance. The rider refused transport via ambulance and planned to seek further medical treatment on their own.
