Rescued Subject: 64 year old male, Beaverton OR
On 01-21-22, at about 09:06 AM, Deschutes County Dispatch received a 911 call regarding an injured skier on the Paintbrush Trail north of Virginia Meissner Snow Park.
A Deputy made phone contact with the injured party who informed the Deputy they had been injured while cross country skiing and would need medical assistance to get back to the snow park and then to the hospital. Two Search and Rescue Volunteers were recreating nearby and responded directly to the scene via snowmobile, arriving at approximately 09:50 AM. An additional four volunteers (including a doctor) and one Special Services Deputy also responded with additional medical supplies and evacuation equipment to assist the patient.
All volunteers were able to reach the patient via snowmobile where members of the medical team assessed his condition. The doctor and medical team provided medical aid, packaged the patient and transported him back to the Virginia Meissner Snow Park where an ambulance from Bend Fire and Rescue was waiting.
